Cascade Hydro¶
Cascade Hydro is a desktop application for precipitation Intensity–Duration–Frequency (IDF) analysis, aimed at hydrologic engineers. It turns a station's precipitation record into fitted IDF/DDF curves, design storms, and the supporting frequency-analysis diagnostics — with every method, constant, and citation surfaced in-app.
This site is the project's reference documentation.
Where to start¶
-
Validation
See how closely the tool reproduces a published Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) IDF dataset — the basis for trusting (and monitoring) the analysis.
-
Methodology
The engineering provenance and run guide for the sub-daily depth-ratio table used in the daily-only estimation path.
About the analysis¶
The analysis core (distribution fitting, return levels, IDF assembly, design storms, diagnostics, and the sub-daily ratio derivation) is a pure-Python, headless-testable layer. Its correctness is guarded by an independent-ground-truth test suite, including the external ECCC validation summarised on this site.
Methods & References live in the app
Each analytical method, numeric guideline, and citation also appears inside the application under the Methods & References tab, deep-linked from the report panels.
